Dear Parents,
Today I sent home federal cards with all students. These cards are needed to know the amount of federally-connected students at our school, so that we may receive the appropriate school funding. Please turn these cards back in your child's behavior sleeve on Monday. Every student who turns them in on Monday earns 10 Patriot dollars!
There will be some changes in our library schedule beginning next week. Library will no longer be on a different day from our wave day, so instead library will be on of the specials students attend on F days. This means that library books will be turned in on Thursday of next week.
Everyone has been doing an awesome job of completing and turning in homework. Keep up the good work! In the coming week, kindergarten will be learning the letter Nn, practicing -an family words, using the number 4, and continuing to sort objects by similarities and differences. In writing, we are picking a "small moment" to draw or write about, and trying to write at least one word about our drawing.
Over the coming weeks, as you practice reading with your child, practice pointing to each word as you read. Make sure your child can answer these questions: Where do I start reading? (point to first word) Which way do I go? (left to right). "Quiz" your child to see that they can identify and write the letters a, t, and m without prompting. If they are struggling with this, then really focus on these letters as you drive around town, watch TV, cook dinner, etc. Be letter and word detectives wherever you travel with your child! It is amazing the "aha" moments they will start to have around town as they soak up knowledge.
Thank you for being such a wonderful and supportive group of parents! Student paper plate projects look FANTASTIC and are now hanging in the hallway, so feel free to stop by and check them out before or after school during the next couple weeks!
As always, please contact me if you ever have any questions, and have a terrific weekend!
