Word Study: We Are Building Words

Over the past couple months, our class has been moving from building words following a basic spelling pattern, to more advanced spelling pattern.

At this point, most children in our class are showing success in sounding out words with a short vowel pattern like: cat, dog, bed, fin, sit, sun ...

We have recently been working on words that include these spelling patterns:

sh, ch, th   

ing

sp, st, sn

bl, fl, sl, cl

To help your child improve their spelling and reading, encourage them to write and read words using these spelling patterns.
