All Scholastic book orders are due by this Wednesday, September 15. You may order books through the paper flyer in your child's daily binder, or through the Scholastic Web site, using our class activation code of GNNVQ.
Open House will be next week, on Tuesday, September 21. More information (time, etc.) will follow soon.
Please return library books on or before Friday, September 17 so that your child can check out a new book. Having your child keep his/her book in his/her bookbag after reading each day will allow more flexibility in choosing a new book on other days as the year progresses.
Look for directions to our first project of the year in your child's daily notebook this afternoon. Students will need your help to create a paper plate timeline of his or her life to this point. When completed, they will be displayed in the hallway.
This week we will be learning how to write the letter M, sort different items, identify left-to-right direction while reading, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and add details to drawing and writing.
You can help your child reinforce this skill at home by:
-Saying the pledge of allegiance together
-Looking for the letter "m" around town (McDonald's, mall, Wal-Mart, Monopoly games, etc.)
-Sorting household items (crayons, silverware, toys, clothes) by color, shape, or size
-Playing Diego's Railroad Rescue to practice sorting and counting objects
-Practicing finding the front cover of books, and then using left-to-right direction when reading (or listening to) books
