Thank you for giving me the chance to get to know your children over the past couple weeks - we are having a great time in Kindergarten! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.
This week we will be working on a lot of important new skills such as writing the letter A, finding the front/back/title of books, writing names, and learning the names of classmates. We will also begin math instruction with the topic "sorting and classifying". If you would like your child to have extra practice with letter names and letter sounds at home, check out Starfall ABCs, which allows children to explore the alphabet with sound and video to go along. For extra practice in sorting objects (by color), check out Clifford's Sorting Game at home.
Many of you have indicated an interest in volunteering in the classroom. Once students have gotten used to the routines of our classroom and I believe they can function well with visitors in the room, I will begin contacting parents about volunteering. If you would like to volunteer, you must be fingerprinted at the Onslow County Schools office.
Please have your child complete his/her daily homework from the September homework calendar. Homework should be completed in the spiral notebook in his/her binder.
If you have not paid your child's $6 in student fees, please send it in your child's money pouch, with the log completed.
Remember, if you have any questions, please send in a note or shoot me an e-mail!
