Weekly Update

Hello Parents!

     I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend! We are really getting into the swing of things here in kindergarten and the students seem to be adjusting to school very well. Please talk with your child every day about school expectations. Have them show you what they do when they have a question, walk in line, clean up their desks, go through the lunch line, use the hallway bathroom, etc. This extra practice at home will give them a little chance to "show off" all the big kid things they are learning in kindergarten, while also reinforcing these procedures that are so essential in the school day running smoothly.

     Also, before your child leaves home these first few weeks, please remind them if they are eating a lunch from home or if they need to buy lunch. There are still a few students who are either forgetting to buy a lunch right away, or going through the cafeteria lunch line even though they brought a lunch from home. Everyone has been doing great about remembering to send in snacks!

     If you would like your child's lunch number so that you may fund their lunch account online, please e-mail me and I will send you their lunch number.

     I will be trying my best to update our class blog each week with pictures and details about what we have been working on in the classroom.      I will be sending home a slip today with some date changes from the calendar I sent home. Due to testing days for 3rd graders and an early release day that slipped my mind, I shifted around the wave and library days to reflect the changes. I'm sorry for any confusion this causes!

     This week we will be focusing on learning student names, spelling student names, writing the letters A & M, and introducing the words "I" "see" and "a". We will also be discussing what it means to be a Patriot within the Stateside community. We are beginning our calendar journals and writing and representing the number 1.
